Project: Increase brand awareness for Ferris State University’s Anti-Violence Alliance (AVA) by building on their existing brand and expanding its reach across campus. Our tasks included updating and maintaining their social media presence and website, designing and producing merchandise, and designing an informational booklet that can be used throughout the community.
Social Media
While the senior class before us designed the initial social media templates pictured above, we identified that the needs of the real social media manager were not being met. The AVA Instagram looked boring, and there was no way to distinguish one even from another.
We decided to expand AVA’s color pallet from monochromatic to including bright, neon versions of the official colors for ever Awareness Month they participate in throughout the year.
Non-Apparel Merch
Last year’s team designed AVA branded shirts and jackets, but in polling the AVA members this year we revealed that they wanted more options in showing their support for the organization.
All of these items would get put in “goodie bags” given out during a weekly event on campus, along with a teabag and postcard explaining the idea of “Consent as Tea,” simultaneously educating the students on campus and increasing brand awareness.
Stickers would be put on the teabags acting as a small poster series advertising different ways to casually ask for consent.
Booklet
In our second semester, we were tasked with designing a brochure that could be used as a quick introduction to the AVA. As we iterated, we realized the potential for this touchpoint was much greater than we initially anticipated and decided it deserved better than what a simple brochure could provide.
And one of the coolest parts? Many of these pages have hidden AR content behind them! This QR code takes you to our AR camera, and you can even test it on your phone.
