Feedback Day 2020
DPC Project | Event Design/Coordination | Branding
Project: Design and coordinate the Ferris State University Feedback Day Portfolio Event including website, emails, decorations, and more. Taking place in Fall 2020, the event was held virtually due to COVID-19 and thus had some unique challenges to be overcome.
Design and Science
In our brainstorming, we discovered that the scientific method and the design process have a lot of elements in common– An iterative process that guides scientists and designers. We decided to pull from the colors of a science lab– those green gloves, blue-tinted lights, and the way beakers refract light with a green-ish tint.

We need to communicate…
Arguably the most important and difficult phase of planning an event, we found, was communicating our intentions in a way that made the decision to RSVP easier.
We laid out everything the professionals would need to know:
Date and time
Their obligations
How to RSVP
What expect afterwards

Virtual Event Means Virtual Decorations
As a virtual touchpoint we figured a virtual touchpoint might actually has a lot more versatility than physical touchpoints would. We utilized this opportunity by creating an editable template that the students would change and update throughout the event in order to visualize the titular “Feedback” they were receiving.
By the end of the event, they would be literally surrounded by the knowledge they gained. This succeeded in helping students remember and internalize feedback as well as make the guests feel like they influenced the students positively.

All of us together!
Thank you!
With our thank you email we also sent out a feedback form on how the event went and how the program as a whole is doing. Here we decided to remind our guests once again of their impact on us students by creating a collage of our final Zoom backgrounds and using that as our email header and Typeform background.
